General Terms & Conditions of Nightcap Ridge

Welcome to Nightcap Ridge. These terms are here to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable stay. We’ve kept them short – if anything is unclear, please get in touch before you arrive.

1. Our Rainforest Setting

Nightcap Ridge is located within Nightcap National Park in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. We care deeply about this environment and ask guests to do the same.

You can expect to encounter insects, native wildlife, snakes, and seasonal weather as part of staying here – these are not grounds for complaints or refunds. Please read the fire evacuation information at check-in, follow staff guidance on wildlife and safety, and be aware of open waterways on and near the property.

We’re off-grid, powered by solar, batteries, and backup generators, so please use power considerately. Wifi is available in all cottages. Temporary disruptions to power, water, or internet are not grounds for cancellation or refund.

2. Bookings & Payment

To make a reservation you’ll need a valid credit card, bank transfer, or payment via a verified booking partner. Guests must be 18 or older; minors are welcome with adults. Please bring photo ID and your booking card for validation if required.

Cancellation and refund terms depend on the rate you selected – please check these carefully before confirming. No-shows are charged in full. We accept credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers, and cash, and charges can also be settled via the in-room point-of-sale. Any outstanding amounts may be charged to the card on file. We’re only responsible for bookings made through our official website or verified partners.

3. Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in is from 2:00 pm; check-out by 10:00 am. Early or late options are subject to availability and may attract extra charges. A security pre-authorisation is held on your card at check-in and released within 7 business days of departure, subject to a condition inspection.

4. House Rules

Please observe the following during your stay:

  • Treat staff, fellow guests, the property, and the surrounding environment with care and respect

  • Keep noise to a considerate level, particularly after 9:00 pm

  • Don’t exceed your registered guest numbers; events or gatherings need prior written approval

  • Smoking in designated outdoor areas only – indoor smoking attracts a $500 cleaning fee; dispose of butts carefully given our bushfire risk

  • No open flames outside designated areas – management may enforce a total fire ban at any time

  • No confetti, rice, or streamers on the property

  • No pets without prior written approval

  • No weapons, firearms, explosives, or flammable materials

  • Nightcap uses a septic tank. Please flush toilet paper only

  • Please report any faults rather than attempting repairs yourself

  • Abusive, threatening, or illegal behaviour will result in immediate removal without refund.

5. Responsible Service of Alcohol

We hold a current NSW liquor licence and operate under RSA laws. Management may ask anyone intoxicated or disorderly to stop drinking, return to their accommodation, or leave the property. Under NSW law it’s an offence to refuse to leave when asked.

6. Damages & Deposit

Guests are responsible for any damage to the property or its contents. The person who signed the booking is responsible for everyone in their party. The property is inspected after check-out and any damage documented and charged accordingly. Excessive mess or indoor cigarette butts will incur a cleaning fee. Please leave your accommodation tidy.

7. Car Parking

Parking is available at your own risk (we’re only liable for damage caused by our staff). Please observe the following limits:

Blue Fig Cottage -2 cars

Rose Gum Cottage -2 cars

Loggers Cabin -1 car

Glamping (20 sites) - 7 cars (main carpark only)

Day guests - 5 cars (main carpark only)

Events over 50 guests require pre-arranged bus transport. Car pooling is encouraged.

8. Health, Access & Practicalities

Please bring any medications you need – we don’t provide on-site medical assistance. Some areas may not be fully accessible due to our natural landscape; please contact us before booking if you have mobility requirements. Where food or drinks are served, we can’t guarantee allergen-free preparation – please let staff know about any allergies.

We may use non-identifiable property photos for marketing; we’ll always seek your written approval for any personally identifiable images.

9. CCTV & Surveillance

Some outdoor areas of the property are monitored by CCTV cameras for safety purposes. No cameras are installed in any private indoor areas.

10. Our Liability

Nightcap Ridge is not liable for theft, loss, or damage to personal belongings, or for accidents, illness, or unforeseen events during your stay. All facilities are used at your own risk. We’re not responsible for disruptions caused by force majeure events – bushfires, floods, storms, pandemics, or government restrictions. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

11. Legal

We may refuse or end a stay if a guest breaches these Terms, behaves illegally or abusively, is extremely intoxicated, fails to meet payment conditions, or poses a risk to others or the environment.

These Terms are governed by NSW and Australian law. By booking with us, you confirm you’ve read and agreed to them. Disputes are best resolved directly; if needed, they may be referred to NSW consumer tribunals or courts.
